Pop up restaurants in Epping for December

Weald place pop up, eppcing

Weald Place Farm, Epping, where our pop up restaurant will be held throughout December, with chef William Alldis and his falcon Zulu

After the success of our ‘How to Run a Pop up Restaurant‘ book in 2015, 2016 is going to be the year of pop up restaurants for The Shotgun Chef. I am looking to hold at least two restaurants per month in Epping and many of them will be held on my family’s farm. This first event is on Thursday 3rd of December but we will be open for business on the 11th and 18th of December as well. To book email William@theshotgunchef.co.uk.

My family’s Georgian farmhouse, where we have lived since 1920, is a fantastic setting for a dining event and all our local produce will go into creating some fantastic food.

The restaurant menu for Thursday 3rd December from 6pm-9:30pm at Weald Place Farm, 9 Duck Lane, Thornwood, Epping, CM16 6NE is:

Roast pumpkin soup and homemade bread £6
Potted partridge with sourdough toast and homemade butter £8.50
Pan-fried pigeon breast salad with honey and apple balsamic glaze £8
Oak smoked wild duck breast served with a peppery rocket salad £7.50

Pan-fried breast and confit leg of wild mallard with seasonal vegetables £18
Fillet of local venison served with a port reduction, triple cooked and chips and roast vine tomatoes £24
Wild mushroom risotto served with parmesan £14
Griddled spatchcock partridge with rosemary and thyme served with roast potatoes and honey-glazed root vegetables £17.50
Teal on toast (a delicious small duck served from the bone) with chestnut mushrooms and root vegetables £17.50
Pan-roast monkfish served with steamed greens and baby vegetables £19

Spiced apple pie served with fresh cream £6.50
Mincepies and homemade calvados butter £7
Dark chocolate mousse with a dash of Scottish whisky £6.50
Cheeseboard of fine cheeses served with fresh fruit, toasts and crackers £7 single or £12 to share

The format
On arrival at the house you will be shown to the drawing room to sit by the open fire where you are welcome to enjoy a glass of wine or a cocktail and a few canapés while we get your table ready for you. You will then be shown down to the dining room.
Outside there will be a brazier burning, with a designated cigar and cigarette smoking area.

Please book in advance via email william@theshotgunchef.co.uk.

The restaurant is just 10 minutes’ taxi from Epping Tube Station. BASC, Shotgun and Chelsea Bun Club, Countryside Alliance and Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust members will receive 15% off their wine bill.
